$662,939 Message from the President: The Grosse Ile Educational Foundation is proudly continuing its commitment to education for the students and families of Grosse Ile. Our mission, to provide life-long educational experiences through creative and exemplary programs, has had great success due to the community's generosity. Even in the face of tough economic times, Grosse Ile continues to go Above & Beyond in your pledge to education. Since 1996, You and GIEF have given over 215 wide-ranging and influential grants. Our grants have contributed to Grosse Ile schools many successes: a straight A, Top-Ten district in Michigan; the 2010 top performer in Michigan on all five subjects (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies); and one of News Week Magazine's "Best High Schools in America". GIEF grants are broad in scope and yet focused in the mission to enhance education – they include Creative Writing and Accelerated Reading; Diversity Speakers and Speaking Spanish; Teacher Training and Technology to Teach; Slave Narratives and Italian Opera; Women's History and Three Men & a Tenor; Weight Rooms and Marching Band Uniforms; Smart boards, Microscopes, Sousaphones and Marimbas; Boys Scouts, Girls Scouts and Boars Head; and trips to Lansing, Lake Erie, Exchange City and Washington D.C. This would simply not be possible without You and the Grosse Ile Educational Foundation. I would like to thank you for your dedication to making our educational mission a success. And I ask you to please join me in supporting this tradition and ensuring its future. Grosse Ile is a unique community whose greatest assets lie in its commitment to excellence in education. Educationally yours, Amy King, President Grosse Ile Educational Foundation |
