In 2009, together we reached an incredible milestone, as GIEF surpassed $500,000 in educational grants. We celebrated our half-million dollar achievement and our million-dollar quest a the second "Make A Million Gala." The Make A Million Gala generously sponsored by Tom & Holly Gores was a festive re-creation of vintage Vegas, complete with Vegas legends Elvis, Marilyn, Liberace, Cher, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Gamblers upped the ante in a bustling just-for-fun casino at craps, roulette, blackjack and authentic slot machines manned by community volunteer dealers and a few pros. Romantic couples renewed their vows at Elvis' Til Death Do Us Part Chapel while the more adventurous hopped in the Gorno Ford Millionaire Maker or enjoyed a cocktail at the Daly Merritt & Gibraltar Veterinary Hospital Martini Bar or cigar at Belicoso's.
